Yes. Child seats and booster seats can only be fitted to the forward-facing seats in the rear (behind the driver). Child restraints must be pre-booked.

All children aged seven years and under must travel in an approved child restraint. The type of restraint required for your child depends on their age as follows:

  • Children aged from birth to approximately four years (birth-18kg) must travel in an approved, properly fastened and adjusted child seat; rear-facing from birth until two years and forward-facing from two years until four years.

  • Children aged between four and seven years (15-36kg) must travel in an approved, properly fastened and adjusted, forward-facing child restraint with an in-built harness OR an approved booster seat which is properly positioned and fastened with a standard lap-sash seatbelt. The booster seat provided may feature a top tether strap that needs to be fitted to an anchor point.

  • An adult lap-sash seatbelt is designed for people with a minimum height of 148cm. A child should continue using a forward-facing restraint or booster seat until they have outgrown it.

Child and booster seats used in New Zealand must comply with the Australia/New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 1754), the American standard FMVSS 213 that also shows the New Zealand Standard ‘S’ mark or the European standard ECE 44 or ECE 129 shown by “E”. It is the responsibility of the guest to fit the seat in the vehicle.

Vehicles fit a maximum of two child restraints of any type (for vehicles where child restraints can be fitted).

Child and booster seats cannot be fitted to the front passenger seat or rear-facing vehicle seat in any of our vehicles.
